Tight nuts!....NOT AS TIGHT AS MY BOLTS

Clawhammer

Recommended Posts

Spent a lot of Saturday cursing whoever put my front suspension together without using any copperslip or similar. 3 out of 4 bolts holding shocks were siezed to the sleeves which made a very simple job take all day *mad*

But on a better note, I am expecting my new shocks this week.

Anything I should be aware of before fitting the Nitrons?

Which way up are they fitted, inverted or normal?

All tips appreciated.

I might choose to ignore any tips from Mikes and Malcolm as they could be misleading 😬 😬

Looking forward to Goodwood.

Robin - fit them inverted, i.e. with the damping adjusters at the bottom.

Be thankful you didn't find a sheared damper mount bolt! That was a real pain.

Didn't want to disappoint you 😬, but I think you should just leave the Nitrons in their box so you don't get them dirty - they are much better that way.

As far as I can remember they are a bit easier to fit as they have the rose joints sather than the flexy rubber bushes - although the top bolt on the rears is always a bit of a sod.

Cheers guys,

Would love to re-use existing sleeves but they are showing signs of butchery from removal with a hacksaw/vice and drift 😳

Looks like I will have to place yet another order with Caterhams.

What's all this about class 3 then David?

Look I am the dyslexic around here and realize my original post might have been miss leading.

it should have read: I would see YOU (Robin) in class 3, again. Not I in class 3 but you.

All is well with my new engine. I look forward to seeing how class 4 this year goes this year *wink*.
