Markiebabes
Thinking of changing from my A048's to Toyo R888 😬 The question is are the compounds similar 🤔 ie; are soft in A048 same as soft in R888 🤔 I had the softs all round with the 48's and car was very planted 😬 tried medium on the back soft on front and it made it a little rear twitchy which can be fun 😬 so I am now thinking of going down the R888 route in softs all round, but if they are a lot softer will they last as long as the 48's did any advice ? anyone running softs all round ? Support Team Shaun_E Posted February 16, 2009 Support Team Share Posted February 16, 2009 On the road, R888 SG compound (soft) will be fine although you won't get many miles out of them. A single trackday would destroy them. I used them for a season of sprinting and probably covered about 2000 road miles on them as well. Markiebabes
Cheers Shaun I got 8000 miles out of my old 48'sr that were soft 😳 😳 so may stick with them if i am only going to get 2000 out of a set of the Toyos or may look at the mediums John 😬 😬 Mark 7 Webshots here R400 😬 pure fun ( more so with Aero fitted )
Mark Durrant
Mark I would go for the 888's in medium as the soft compound is really for competion use. IMHO the 888 is a better tyre than the 48R and the softer sidewall gives an improved ride. Mark D Comp Sec

Ozzy
I think he's got a bit muddled up with his mileages! Mark. Really can't see how you can get 8000 miles on a set of soft 48's!!!!!!! Nigel.
Markiebabes
Nigel it's true 😳 but I am a gentle driver Jonathan 😬 John *nono* never 😬 😬 Mark thanks will have a look at the mediums as the prices I am being quoted (for both A048and R888) are very similar in fact adams and page were cheaper for A48s than Toyo's Mark 7 Webshots here R400 😬 pure fun ( more so with Aero fitted )
Ozzy
Well.......... You might not be slow, but you're obviously not braking hard enough/late enough!! You'll have to try harder Not surprised Adam & Page are quoting more for Toyo's. After all, they are a Yoko dealer. Have you had a price from Camskill? Got my local guy to fit the new tyres on the rims today. Hopefully get them on the car at the weekend, and subject to weather, get them scrubbed in. Will report back, when I've fully road tested them 😬 Nigel.

The Village Idiot
I like many find the "8000 mile" quote a little unbelieveable for you , if only because of the donuts , whilst I of course have never had any problems with tyre wear as I drive so slowly even a granny in a Micra can overtake me 😳 Dicks
IKB
Mark. "I am a gentle driver" is like saying Attila the Hun was a social worker........nice one though
Markiebabes
John 😶🌫️ gentle on the car not so much the tyres 😬 Dicks 😬 I have re-checked when I had them fitted and it was 7598 miles ago *eek* not bad, I may have to try harder ☹️ Mark 7 Webshots here R400 😬 pure fun
