Support Team Shaun_E Posted February 9, 2009 Support Team Share Posted February 9, 2009 Just bought a new MG-Rover oil filter and it is part number LPW100181. Person at the parts counter says it is a replacement for the LPW100180. Does this sound right? It looks like it will fit but as I currently have a Halfords one fitted it's hard to tell if it's the right one. mav
This was mentioned recently. I'll ask my supplier tomorrow.
Shad
Had the same confusion last year when I got one, rest assured the new filter (same filter, different number) is a-ok Simon niknak.org
jingars
Just ran a web search on the new number and came up with this which seems to confirm it and give a reason for the change. Not an immediate issue for me because I have a small 'Mav stash' of filters....

mav
For some reason X-part seem to have changed the part number, but the product is exaclty the same, according to my supplier. LPW100180 = LPW100181
Dave B
All this mention of stashes!!!! Does this mean they are going to become very hard to get? Dave B
mav
Unlikely. I bought out the remaining stock form my local MG Rover garage when they all folded a few years back. My stash was 50 filters. I've about 15 left now...
Stationary M25 Traveller
When the Plods do their daily sweep of internet traffic, they'll pick up on Mav's stash, and be round breaking the door down at 5am !!!!
