Do I need a cat or not

Recommended Posts

Sorry to start another cat thread but I wondered if anyone could give me a categoric answer (I haven't received my MSA 2009 book yet).

My chassis is a 1995 with VIN plate to match but my engine is an R400, obviously post 31/12/1999.

Is it the chassis date or the engine date that they go on 🤔

I'd appreciate an answer ASAP please because I have exhaust parts for sale and depending on whether I need a catalyst or not affects which bits I can sell and which I need to use.

Many thanks,

Nifty.

Section C(b)22:

Exhaust catalytic converters must be fitted to all petrol engined production based soloon, touring and sports cars, including specialist production and kit cars, manufactured after 31/12/99. They may be specified for certain other formulae. Competitors are reminded of their obligation to maintain such equipment on a vehicle used on the highway where government legislation requires it.

So yours would be exempt
