david nelson
I have just put a new k series engine in my seven. The power is unknown but could be between 210 and 220 bhp. I have done a search and spokento a few people and still unsure what to do. This question is about power and torque. Who much difference is there between an airbox and an air filter? one person said he lost 4-5 lb with an air box. Has anyone done back to back testing? I am sure someone must have, as the k series has been out for a long time now. many thanks David Edited by - david nelson on 5 Feb 2009 19:38:

stevefoster
I've not done any bhp testing but can't say I can detect any power loss on the road. I made a box with 3" inlet pipe and cold air splitter / sort of air ram thing in the nose. I left plenty of room from the trumpets to the end plate of the air box. I actually had to richen the map a little at revs as she was getting more air than before... Fantastically quiet compared to the ITG filter. Pics of the project here Add lightness, says the man with a VX :-) My racing & other pics here General pics (mostly of 7's and cars). here Edited by - stevefoster on 5 Feb 2009 21:44:
