stephen grant
Anyone got a good condition one they don't need? Regards, stephen
jonboylaw
Hi Stephen, I thought it best to buy them in matched pairs as they can vary and that would make setting them up a pain. I saw a pair on Pistonheads, under the parts/caterham section. Jon
stephen grant
Hi - thanks, but I am only after one, not a pair. As in, I only want one on the car (not a 7).... stephen
Manxseven
Stephen, If it's for the A series, go for a 45 Caterham BEC here
stephen grant
Hi, thanks - it is for the A-series Is there any difference in external dimensions between the 40 and the 45? I believe even with the 40 I need to grind a bit of meat off to get it under the bonnet.... stephen
Manxseven
Stephen, Not sure, think a 45 may be bigger. What inlet manifold are you using? Maniflow are the bees knees, link here Simon ----- Caterham BEC here Edited by - Manxseven on 27 Jan 2009 21:18:
stephen grant
Hi Simon, thanks for advice. I haven't got as far as choosing a manifold. The big issue is finding one that fits. Although there's acres of space in the engine bay of the eleven, it's very tight in certain places (you can't get the dizzy cap off, for instance, without lifting the engine!) and the bonnet is very very tight to the top of the engine (the bonnet sometimes bounces against the oil filler cap). The manifold needs to dip to get the carb under the bonnet line. A friend has a single 40 setup and had to grind a touch off the top of the carb to get it under. So I really need to find one that fits, rather than one that gives best flow... There's a real lack of single Webers on ebay at the mo as well. Plenty of manifolds, but no carbs.... stephen
