Stuart McGill
I replaced my clutch cable over the weekend, 2004, K Series. Two quick questions though: 1 - When I took the cable off the bell housing both the locking nuts were on the outside of the housing. Is this correct or is one meant to be on the inside and one on the outside? 2 - Do I adjust the biting point from both ends of the cable? Having the minimum amoung of thread in the pedal cover gives a very high biting point so can this simply be adjusted at the bell housing to suit? I'm assuming there is no more to it than this. Hope that makes sense. Stuart

Area Representative Paul Richards Posted January 19, 2009 Area Representative Share Posted January 19, 2009 Stuart 1. Both nuts on outside - locked together. 2. You can adjust at either end to get the required bite point, but make sure that the cable pulls nice and straight i.e. without rubbing awkwardly on the edge of the outer cable. If you understand what I mean. Paul Richards Area Representative - L.A.D.S. Stuart McGill
Thanks to both of you . Richard - although the strands inside the old cable were perfect (not frayed etc) the clutch is certainly much smoother and slightly lighter than before whcih is the result I was after. Old cable now in the boot for when the new one snaps 😬 Stuart
John Vine
Stuart, There's some info here on adjusting the pedal-box end of the cable. JV
