Clawhammer
I'm spending the winter trying to make sure I am getting the full potential out of my car for next seasons class 3 sprinting. Always thought the car struggled to pull top end revs in high gears at the fast cicuits last year. The car started life as 1.6 superlight, it was upgraded to a 1.8 by Dave Andrews by a previous owner. 4 into 1 Caterham exhaust, standard mems ECU, standard head. Original fuel pressure regulator,(Possibly squeezed by Dave) As I understand it, 1.8 K series engines run on cream injectors? Checking mine, from the front of the engine I found 1 Blue with number on the top 32332 2 green...........................32332 3 Blue.............................44332 4 Blue.............................43332 I assume there has been an injector replaced at some time and only a green one was available. Could this set up be hidering the performance of my engine? Should I fit the cream injectors? If yes where can I source these? Comments please Robin SUPERLIGHT 176. oilyhands
It's normal when upgrading from 1600/1400 to 1800 to repalce the injectors with cream ones, the 1400s and 1600s often have blue injectors and the jump up to cream covers the difference caused by the capacity increase.. david nelson
Robin If you would like to try some cream injectors you can borrow mine. David
Clawhammer
Hi David Sounds like a good idea. Are they easy to change? Robin SUPERLIGHT 176. PINK LIPS AND BITS *redface*
mikes
Robin - NOOOO - I really think you should stick with what you have got 😬 😬 If it is any consolation, mine also struggled to get to top revs in higher gears - although Kate seems to manage it OK Mike
Mark Durrant
Robin Very easy to change. Unbolt the fuel rail (IIRC there are two bolts) and remove. Remove injectors from head and replace with new - they are a push fit that seal with a rubber o-ring. Refit fuel rail. So what with your understeer problem solved with the LSD refresh and now the correct level of power from your engine I expect your odds at Ladbrooks for class 3 to shorten to odds on Mark D Comp Sec

Malcolm Edited to add: Robin, I'm sure the previous owner of your car had a nice gas flowed head.... 😳 Edited by - Englishmaninwales on 19 Jan 2009 22:36:
Clawhammer
Hi Malcolm Quote [Robin, I'm sure the previous owner of your car had a nice gas flowed head....] It teases me everytime I go in the garage and see it sitting on the bench 😬 But Should I decide to refit it I would have to enter class 4 with only 158 BHP 😳 See you at Goodwood Robin SUPERLIGHT 176.
