Roger Ford
Got fed up waiting for a special offer at Halfords - which Comma oil is the equivalent of the Caterham Motorsport oil? Is it the "Motorsport 5w50"? Is there anywhere that sells it significantly cheaper than the £31 that Caterham want for theirs?
AMMO
Roger I have an un-opened container of Motorsport 5-50 you can have for £20.00. The problem is getting it to you as I don't think the Post Office will take a parcel containing oil. Roger Ford
Thanks, Ammo, but doesn't sound too easy. Have some friends in that sort of area, will check if any are close.
djg
Try Motor Parts Direct, they seem to be fairly widespread and they are a Comma dealer in my area and I get the motorsport oil from them, sorry can't remember the price. Doug PS I don't work for them !
6speedmanual
I get the best price from my local independent (non national chain) motor spares shop in Towcester. £22 for 5 litres last autumn. Worth finding a place like this and asking them their best possible price. stevefoster
Some carriers certainly do allow you to send oil. As an aside: I have Gunwash (mix of Cellulose and other more aggressive thinners) sent to me. Add lightness, says the man with a VX :-) My 2002/2003 racing pics here General pics (mostly of 7's and cars). here Edited by - stevefoster on 14 Jan 2009 16:42:
Roger Ford
6speedmanual - is that £22 for the fully synthetic Motorsport 5w50? Does it include VAT? If so I'll see what my local motor factor will quote.
6speedmanual
Roger, yes that was the price I paid, in September. It may be more now but my local guy always gives me a good deal as I'm in and out of there for bits for the family fleet on a regular basis. The combined age of the 5 cars is 77 years and I do all the work on them myself so I suppose I'm a reasonably good customer. I'll ask him at the weekend what the current going rate will be. 6speedmanual
Hi Mark I'll see what he can do for 4 or 5 cans. If it looks good, I may ask around for a NorthantsBedsBucks mini bulk buy. Yes, will try to get to meet on 21st. Peter 6SpeedManual *tongue*There's no such thing as too much BHP per Ton 😬
CharlesElliott
Rog - if you need some now, I can probably do you some Silkolene Pro-S 10W-50 and you can 'refund' me when Halfords have their offer....
