Hibster.
I'm sure I have a recipe for llama somewhere - I found it on a Peruvian website when one of my sons refused to clean out his guinea pigs so I threatened to cook them and therefore needed a suitable recipe PS they were delicious in a white wine sauce on a bed of capers Supercheese R250 Caterham pictures here 😬
The Village Idiot
The two things I am going to do with them is breeding for sale (not eating ) and milking. It really started as a stupid idea with Delbert having some fun at me, but I looked at the land/buildings that I had and investigated opportunities. It seems that there is a market for well bred llama's that are well handled, I'm a British Horse Society Instructor (as some of you know already) so handling the llama's by comparison to a 17 hh mad horse is a piece of cake. I have a friend who is into specialist cheese making who will develope a llama cheese, so we get the girl llamas pregnant, sell the offspring and then milk them for cheese production. It took alot of working out BUT I think with patience it will all come together, with Delbert it would never have happened, I have to say I really am indebted to him for his idea - he just doesn't know how good he is Dicks PS they are really cute as well have you seen their cute little furry faces 🥰
Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted January 14, 2009 Area Representative Share Posted January 14, 2009 10% eh Del? So what do young llamas drink if their mother's milk is turning into cheese for humans? Or are you only going to take a percentage? Democratic dissent is not disloyalty, it is a positive civic duty. The Village Idiot
GJT - have you washed that car yet 🤔 ❗ No it's just like cows (and the human wet nurses of old 😳), when the young are weaned if you keep milking the animal they keep producing. Obviously, you do not take any milk until the young are weaned, that would be stupid This is our first baby so we have to have patience, breed some more animals to get the 'milk flowing' sell the offspring and make the cheese. I knew I shouldn't have mentioned it, it's all SM25T's fault for asking me other day why I was up so late. Dicks (I did think when at the end of the year we hopefully start 'production' I might send Delbert a cheese to say thank-you)

Hibster.
"so we get the girl llamas pregnant," Isnt a boy llama required or are you employing a Welshman to cover the ewe ? Supercheese R250 Caterham pictures here 😬
The Village Idiot
Paul, keep up at the back, you of all people I thought would have understood this process The VERY first posting on this thread said we had 'William' the 'stallion', now I know this is the sheds, I know you are car guys and girls, but it ain't that hard to understand. Now I am going to call her Llentil Llama because :- 1. I like it 2. Delbert gave her the name and he is connected with this venture (even if he didn't know it at the time) - I do know it sounds crazy, but if I am out there looking after our two horses each morning, honestly a few Llamas on top isn't that hard - they don't eat or sh1t as much as the horses that is for sure. The Village Idiot
Well the good news is that Llentil is doing well The bad news is that her mother has got a mild form of mastitis, the vet has been out and she is on anti biotics (so thats £150 down the drain, with the visit and meds ), the vet thinks all will be fine in about a weeks time but it is causing me merry hell. Poor Llentil wants to go for a drink but the mother is so sore that she won't let Llentil drink, so I am now having to bottle feed Llentil - special powder formulation from the vet - more £££'s *mad* So I am up all times of the day feeding Llentil but her mother is still very protective so she tries to rush/bite me, I got one nip through the sleeve of my coat which came up in a great big bruise. The situation is :- 1. I am getting no sleep as I am on feeding duty. 2. I have an enraged mother attacking me. 3. It's costing hundreds of pounds to get sorted. I am very And the person to blame for ruining my life - that bl00dy Delbert, if he ever mentions Llama's again......... It will be alright in the end but right here and now 🙆🏻 Dicks
