Steve Jones
I could only afford a 5 speed, but all the documentation (sales order etc ) says 6 speed. Anybody got any ideas about how I can definitively tell the difference? It affects the build order. Absolute Beginner
Ash.Bailey
😬 you could always try changing gear 🤔 use the other hand and two of your toes to count 😬 If It aint yellow, wonky and wobbly................ 😬
Frying Pan
6-speed carries a considerable price premium, but is well worth it in my opinion. There are very easy to tell apart - the 6-speed one has 'CATERHAM 6 SPEED' cast into the top - Grubbster is kindly pointing it out with his thumb here See some pictures of the build here. 15000 miles completed! 6speedmanual
Steve, shhhhhhh!!!! ❗ ❗ Maybe they put a 6speeder in by mistake!!!! All your Christmases at once
Steve Jones
Indeed 6speedmanual. I feel a fight coming on - except I cant see anything that indicates 6 speed on the box as you suggest, 7heavensoon. Wonkycustard - lol, but one hand and two toes makes 7! And the car ain't built yet! Absolute Beginner
Allen Payne
The six speed boxes have Caterham cast on them, I don't believe the 5-speed ones do.
Steve Jones
Sorted everyone. Thanks. It has no 6 speed markings, but does look like two separate bits molded together- hence 5 speed. Slightly disappointed but not surprised. Companies don't tend to make expensive mistakes like that! Absolute Beginner
Rob Walker
6 speed is an all ali case, 5speed only the tail casting is ali.
