Leadership Team RogNeedham Posted December 17, 2008 Leadership Team Share Posted December 17, 2008 A few of us need to increase ride height by 20mm (from 80mm ground clearance to 100mm) in order to meet conditions for loading cars on the german Motorrail system. Using a tyre calculator an increase in tyre size from 185/60 profile to 185/70 will do the job, but.... not enough room between tyre and wing stay to accommodate larger profile. the rail company will not let us use temporary wooden boards. Some of the guys have adjustable platforms so that could be one option - but not sure if 20mm increase is possible any other ideas? Rog
Stationary M25 Traveller
Would a temporary increase in tyre pressure gain you any height ? Maybe an extra 15psi for the loading/unloading ?
Gambo
Might be a bit severe, but why not do what they do with new cars and fit transport blocks in the springs. Jack car up to require ride height insert a block and away to go.

dalongbloke
How lucky are you to have 80mm (he says, having just had the crossflow sump rewelded!).
Willie.
Spacers under engine mounts with longer bolts. Then you should be fit to get the rest with tyre pressure. You would need to pump up again on the way back though. Willie
Myles
My dampers don't allow a huge amount of droop - so you *might* find that there is a rather unfortunate practical limit to what can be achieved. 80mm shouldn't be a huge problem though. 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 Alcester Racing 7s Ecosse™ 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 Alcester-Racing-Sevens.com
Dyrill
I would have a few new car blocks around at the office, (from a BMW or MINI mind you), do you want me to get some to you to see if they work?- or do Caterham use them on built cars that they ship Supersport 1.8 VVC
Leadership Team RogNeedham Posted December 20, 2008 Author Leadership Team Share Posted December 20, 2008 thx for all the suggestions - given we are quite a large group we've decided not to try messing around with blocks etc - different cars with different clearance etc......so we're driving down to Alps thanks again Rog
