david nelson
CC sell 2 types what is the difference? 1/2" Race here and here thanks David
djg
The race spec one goes over the top of the propshaft/diff and is a right pig to fit!! These were as fitted to pre 2000 cars when a rear ARB was speced etc. The other one goes unerneath the whole of the suspension and also I understand has different mounts. Paul McKenzie
The 'over-the-top' is a bit fiddly, as you need to feed it in at wierd angles and jiggle it about a bit to clear the diff, but it eventually finds it's way into position . It is secured via U-bolts, positioned through pre-drilled holes in the base of the triangular cubby hole which normally contains the lap and diagonal belt fixings- you need to drill-out a few rivets to get in there, and then re-seal it afterwards. The two 'ears' of the ARB connect via drop links to th rear suspension. CC provide a kit containg everything you need. Paul
Englishmaninwales
Dave Fitting the over-slung ARB is greatly eased if you remove the boot floor first
david nelson
The plan is to remove my current over slung ARB and fit an under slung one. I will contact CC in the morning to find out if i can just change the bar and still use the other bits. If not i will sell the over slung one. Jason Plato
the two are not interchangeable Dave. They are slightly different widths. Before you order the underslung one check that you have the bosses for the mounts on the chassis. The only other option is to then run a Freestyle underslung one. captain chaos
Why not just fit eh feestyle underlung version? it's easy to fit and adjustable..
Jason Plato
maybe its the cost ? vs £40 for the Caterham one ?. Taffia rear gunner
david nelson
Dave. I am going to order a new under slung bar £40 + some nuts to attach it to the ears? the Freestyle one is £215. I am sure it is good but can not justify spending that much on one. David
Martin S.
David, Why not try it without a rear ARB altogether? It wouldn't take much to fit one if you felt the need afterwards.
Jason Plato
I know Dave, I aquired a freestyle rear arb for low cost and I adjusted once and left it there The caterham bar is also a little lighter. Taffia rear gunner
