Anti Cav Tank needed for track days?

Richard J Darnell

Recommended Posts

Having enjoyed my first track day and thinking about doing more I am anxious to look after to car as best I can.

Does this mean I need to get an anti cav tank? I beleive this stops oil starvation when going around corners, but tell me if I'm missing something. My engine is a 1.6 k-series supersport.

I assume that this is more important for faster cars but the G-force I could generate using my 21Rs seemed pretty high to me!

Gary,

I think the answer is essentially the same. Most of the K series cars at a Llandow track day or the Club Sprint next month will not have a dry sump. Some will probably not have the Apollo tank either. The Apollo tank is regarded as the basic precaution against oil surge/starvation for a Caterham K series car which is used for any track work. The Apollo tank is standard fitment for most of the Caterham racing series from Supergraduates upwards.

Hope this helps,

Brian
