Englishmaninwales
Got my 1800ss engine onto the stand yesterday to start prepping for next year, and I was a bit surprised to find there was between 0.008 and 0.009 in wear across the top of the teeth, the exhaust side worse. Is this normal or is this caused by over tensioning the belt? Or just cr@p metal? The engine has done 15k miles over 2 years use. Malcolm
Adrian Williams
I've never measured it Malcolm but the shiny red verniers I put in my 1600 a few years ago had turned into polished alloy on the teeth in a couple of thousand miles. Also the gold ones on the R5 engine looked the same earlier this year, maybe the blue ones stand up better. Adrian
