VHPD egnines used the motorsport (MS) casting which was improved in latter years to become the MS2 casting which has revised waterways that allow safer and more extreme porting. The MS2 casting is, as stated identified by the MS2 lettering embossed on the exhaust side under the cam carrying area, the MS castings have MS written backwards in the same position. Either casting is a very good basis for a powerful K series, but the MS2 is preferred. Later R400 engines use the Vulcan casting which is again similar but is 'part ported' in as cast condition.
