Throbin
Maybe a numpty question - but how do you remove the dust caps off the front hubs?? I'm puzzled!! Cheers, Robin.
Allen Payne
Try screwing a self-tapping screw or wood screw into the hole in the centre and then use that to pull the cap off
Dave McCulloch
I had one of mine relatively easy to get off - I used a screwdriver shaft inserted into the hole in the centre and wiggled it off - but the other was stuck fast - I ended up destroying it in trying to remove it. However, they're not much money from Caterham if you have to replace. Dave
Throbin
Thanks Guys - managed to get it off with combination of both methods. Cheers, Robin.
Gridgway
My dad taught me to use a centre punch. Use it radially a little at a time going round and it soon comes off. Graham
Mickrick
Tap it from the side with a soft hammer, as you rotate the hub. It will work itself out.
ashaughnessy
I've tried the self tapping screw idea myself with zero success. i ended up using a cold chisel and hammer to wiggle it free (which worked fine but left the cap in a slighly second hand state). Graham Sewell
I have used a junior hacksaw to cut two shallow slots in line with the hub. Then it is a simple matter to use a screwdriver located into the slot (radially) to give leverage to remove the cap. Cheers, Graham ------ Low tech luddite - xflow and proud! Alex Wong1697456877
ECR has a very neat tweek - he brazed M5 nuts onto the caps so he could pop a M5 bolt in and just screw it in to get the cap off - much more effective than using a self tapper. ----- VDU 7X Pics More VDU 7X Pics

Gridgway
I'm sure this is deja vue all over again, but you really don't need all these clever tricks! My Dad who was a car mechanic for a lot of years showed me how to do it with a centre punch. It's really easy and doesn't nadger the cover!
