FIA roll bar/weather gear

I believe that my roll bar is a standard one, so the question is how easy is it to fit the FIA bar and will it effect the weather gear in any way.

Weather gear clears FIA bar on my 1990 car (which started life as a Supersprint).

 

Bar is not difficult to fit (given that you are comfortable with spanners) but does require the removal of the rear shock absorbers in order to fit one of the bolts. This bolt goes in from underneath and is sometimes awkward to line up.

here's the clincher.. weather gear fits over fia bars on some, but not on others.. depends where the poppers have been place apparently, but is not to difficult to remedy.

How long would it take to replace the standard bar by the FIA one excluding the time needed to fit a new boot cover?

it would take quite a while as you have to remove the rear shock absorbers to put two bolts in there that go upwards into the base of the roll bar.

Its not difficult (although a bit of force may be needed to get the rollbar to line up with all the holes properly) so if you're not very practiced with these things you'll do it fine. Wait for a sunny day and do it outside!
