Wrightpayne
Elie, Did you see the Japanese car in this months low flying that had an FIA bar modified into a cage - looked really neat and would be OK from a personal safety perspective / track days but probably no good for sprinting. Looks like they had had a forward hoop made up(like the normal cage) then added brackets to take a detachable fore/aft bar on each side effectively running ajacent to the tops of the doors. elie boone
I just had a look at it, it's the silver one with the wpanasport wheels, it looks nice but i prefer the original. Maybe it's time to see if there is enough interest in making a new badge of those cages.
ChrisHawkins
There are a couple of DeDion cages on ebay here, one Safety Devices and one Caged, maybe they could be modified to fit a LA car, the front and rear mounts should be the same which just leaves the middle ones Chris K93 AMJ
graham bass
Chris, the cages do look the same but I recently compared mine to that of a fellow seveners de dion cage and the differences are subtle but would take a bit of work to alter. The rear hoop has the obvious difference of flange mount for the live axle, the de dion cage would need shortening up before welding the flanges on because it's designed to fit into the chassis. I seem to remember the real difference is the rear struts into the boot, on a live axle cage I think they mount lower in the boot so necessitating lengthening on a de dion cage but then the angle from the top of the cage down into the boot is wrong so they'd need re-positioning. It would probably be as quick to cut them off and make new ones! Not impossible but then not straight forward either.

Archie Procter
read the advert. I happen to know the seller and there is no chance it will be sold outside the Grads club
ChrisHawkins
I did see that when I read it properly, to be honest I agree its best going to another classic grad Chris K93 AMJ
7Nut
The ID code you need for a Live Axle 'SLR' rounded style cage from Safety Devices is Q128. Stew

jonboylaw
I am after the same, but will be in the new year. If there is interest in getting a batch made then I would consider participating. 92 Long cockpit LA chassis. Jon
jonboylaw
I just spoke to safety devices and they are not doing them at the moment, however if there was sufficient demand then they would make a batch. Sufficient in this instance means around 5, so if anyone is interested in a Long LA cage, let me know. Jon

jonboylaw
Marcos, Not at the moment, I just spoke to Chris at SD and he will check to see if they have the jigs and dimensions still. If all is ok, he will mail me a price based upon a run of 5 cages. These are the 1/2 moon type ones (Q128). Jon
