Neil_K
I'm going to be changing the rear discs and pads. Following advice on here, i'll probably renew the bolts and nyloc nut as well. Rimmer Bros here are the cheapest for discs (£15 per disc vs £22 - all plus theft). Are the bolts and nylock washers that hold the disc to flange the same as the Spitfire (i.e. available from Rimmer) or are they from a Sierra and therefore different to those sold by Rimmer? Are there any other sundries I need to get? Cheers, NK Where am I?
Neil_K
Should have said that the £22 is the CC price Where am I?
Stationary M25 Traveller
I think the nut is Sierra XR4i ? Quite cheap from CC. The bolts have an annoyingly thin head, may not be standard elsewhere ? 7 related photos
Neil_K
Yeah, quite cheap from CC but not worth getting a 50p nut to pay £6 postage! Same story with the bolts - 59p each from CC Where am I?
Stationary M25 Traveller
Where in Surrey ? Drop me a Blatmail. I am only 10 mins from CC Dartford. 7 related photos
Mick Day
I've just done mine. As far as I know the disc to hub bolts are special CC items. I bought new bolts but didn't really need them. Just be careful in getting the old bolts out, & use loctite when putting them back in. I used new axel nylocks as the old ones had been on & off a few times. Neil_K
Ian, am in Epsom - so likely to cost more in fuel than the postage, but thanks all the same! I can come up with a few other bits I 'need' ( ) from CC so can build up a bulk order I guess to ecomonise. Thanks all Where am I?
Mark Durrant
Why not pop across to Redline Components in Caterham for the parts Mark D Comp Sec
Mick Day
Redline may be closer? www.redlinecomponents.co.uk/ ........or James Whiting? www.jameswhiting.com
Neil_K
That is a potential plan ...... Other than saving the postage, are they usually much cheaper than CC? Where am I?
Stationary M25 Traveller
The reason for asking is that I visit (the town of) Caterham and Sanderstead every Saturday, so could easily come to you, or meet you somewhere convenient ! Offer still stands ! 7 related photos
F355GTS
Neil the bolts are I believe Caterham specific and the Heads are prone to rounding off due to the shallow head design. The end of the threads are visible from the otherside of the Hub and it may be worth applying some easing oil before attempting removal. Rear Hub nuts are Ford Sierra type, it might be worth considering replacing the rear bearings while you've got it all apart Mark
Neil_K
Thanks Mark. Is this all I need? Never taken off more than a wheel at the back! Where am I?
Neil_K
Parts ordered from Redline. Their advice was to repack rather than replace bearings, given the age and mileage of the car One issue though, they had no idea what the nylocks were all about. Is anyone able to explain please?? Where do they go? Where am I?
F355GTS
Neil the only Nylock bit's are the main hub nuts is that what you mean? Mark

Neil_K
Maybe? I think so, was going off what i learnt searching the archives! All will become clear when I take it apart, just didn't want to take it apart to realise I need another bit. Thanks all Where am I?
stevefoster
For disc to hub bolts I've found grinding the socket face down flush prevents any burring problem. Add lightness, says the man with a VX :-) My 2002/2003 racing pics here General pics (mostly of 7's and cars). here
