1400 Super sport gearbox oil?

Thinking its time to change gearbox oil on my 1400 Supersport. It runs a standard 5 speed type 9 box. Whats the best type & grade for typical se7en blatting and occasional track day?

CC recommended gearbox oil made by Comma or the Comma branded version.

 

Redline MTL 75 is another possibility.

 

GL4 essential.

 

NOT GL5

Do you know whether there is a drain plug and when sitting in the drivers seat which side the filling port is? Can't see that easily without the car on ramps....

That's no prob, Simon.

 

The drain plug near bottom of box should be blindingly obvious.

 

The fill/level plug about half way up the side (just not absolutely certain which on a 5 speed). On a 6 speed on Right.

 

There are quite few posts on changinr 'box oil so worth a search.

No drain plug on a standard 5 speed unless modifiedby BGH

[Stationary M25 Traveller]

Need to suck it out of the filler plug - on the nearside. Very little space between the plug and the side of the tunnel. Need to cut down the sort leg of an allen key to fit !
