Area Representative Tin Man Posted June 7, 2002 Area Representative Share Posted June 7, 2002 I have just refitted the hoses to the tank & they are leaking around the dowty seals. I have tried tightening them up but they still leak. Are the seals reusable as I feel if I tighten them anymore the thread might strip on the apollo tank. Bangers quotNquot Mas1697456953
Dowty seals rely on pressure to activate them. If you look at the design they expand out as pressure builds. Normally they can be re-used without problem. Make sure everything is clean on assembly. Over tightening is not required with these seals. Area Representative Tin Man Posted June 8, 2002 Author Area Representative Share Posted June 8, 2002 Managed to get them sealed today. Cranked them up another 1/4 turn. They are very tight & I was worried that the threads into the tank would strip.
