Chaz23
Does anyone know how to remove silicon sealant from aluminium? When I had a heater in the car I stuck it down with silicon sealant (I think I went a bit OTT with it as well). Now the heater is removed and replaced with a blanking plate there is still remains of silicon sealant which I would like to remove. ----- 1993 De-Dion 1700 X/FLOW
shn7
Chaz, Pop down to local B&Q/Homebase and buy some Silicone Eater. Usually on the shelves next to the tubes of silicone not surprisingly. Steve. millsn
best bet is to abrade it if it's cosmetic, just trub it with anything as harsh as won't damage the surrounding area. A plastic spatula will do. If youo can'tt gett at it, cut through it with cheesewire style. Strip out some automotive cable from its sheath and pull it back and forth. It cana be really hard work and the cable gets seriously hot so don't touch it aftterward.
The Pikey
petrol or panel wipe on a rag and rub it in for a min or two. That will make it brittle and you remove it without much problem J
