We bought this car at the beginning of the year through a desire to drive a Golf GTI for a while on a mission to own all the (cheaper) cars we've ever wanted to drive. Due to the opportunistic purchase of a new car (a BMW 740 - OK, it's not something we've always wanted to drive, but it was a bargain), sadly Orville (on account of it being green) is for sale as we can't keep both cars. In fact my Missus' strict rule was that one car must be sold before another could be bought, so we're already in the dog house! Onto the details: Jade Green Metallic. 174300 miles. MoT until mid August. Taxed until end September. Completely standard, original condition. New (reconditioned) engine at 100000 miles and FSH since. Receipts for engine. Just serviced including new rocker cover gasket. Original 14" Montreal Alloys. Electric windows. Tilt/slide sunroof. Trip computer. Central locking. Good points: Car is very sound - very solid body work and underside. Strong engine with no smoke (only 70k). Pulls very strongly, sounds great and is very economical 2 new tyres and 2 recent - Pirelli P6000s and Goodyear Eagle NCT5). Synchros good (no crunching into second like many Golfs). Interior and seats in good condition (seats have been replaced by later GTI ones). Everything works including MFA! (apart from RR elec windows -see below). New headlights and wipers. Brakes have plenty of meat on them. Bad points - Lacquer appearance on the roof is not very shiny and has chip marks (lacquer only - paint is fine). - Two little areas of rust on the body work - a few bubbles on the bottoms of the doors and a small patch above the RR number plate. - RR electric windows don't work. It's nothing obvious (fuse etc), but have not investigated in depth (Front windows work fine). - No radio. Have an old one that could be thrown in with the sale, but its pedigree is unknown. - Interior blower fan works on number 3 only. Pictures are here £450 O.N.O.
