Shad
I'm fairly sure this isn't a problem, but... I have a 1.6 wet sump K with an Apollo and a mechanical oil pressure gauge, and I'm using the Caterham Motorsport oil (not sure what grade that is, 5w50?). Once my engine's fully up to temp and I've been driving it sensibly, my oil pressure at a steady speed is about 60psi and at idle it's between about 37 and 40psi. However, after some proper driving and lots of high revs, the pressure at 4-5k rpm is 58-60psi (which I'm thinking is fine) but the idle pressure is between 25 and 30psi, which I'm not so sure about. My gut feeling is that, it's fine when it's at high revs which is when it needs it most. But I'd appreciate other points of view about the hot idle pressure Cheers! Area Representative Richard Price Posted July 23, 2008 Area Representative Share Posted July 23, 2008 Simon, that sounds fine to me. I wish mine looked like that!
Support Team Shaun_E Posted July 23, 2008 Support Team Share Posted July 23, 2008 Those numbers are fine! Start worrying when the idle pressure drops below 20psi. Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing
