Fitting new gearbox/bellhousing gasket

On a K series with a 5 speed box.

 

Am going to try to do this without removing the engine, just moving it as far as is will go forward in the chassis.

 

Will this work ?

Never tried myself, but some sat that you can change the clutch without removing the engine, however clearance must be tight. In your case I don't see how you will be able to get the bellhousing off the gearbox and past the gearbox input shaft so that you can fit the gasket. Why do you want to fit a new gasket? Have you got an oil leak?

Will make life difficult if not impossible to do it the way you suggest. If you've got that far, remove the engine. You will need to retorque thw bellhousing to g/box bolts. Why are you replacing the gasket? If there is an oil leak, it will be coming from the forward end of the selector rod where it appears at the front of the gearbox. Clean the area and simply refit with some RTV or such like instant gasket around the selector rod
