henry21p
Hmm. Or you could try increasing your engine revs at idle so the fan spins faster..... 😬
stevefoster
Wind up or not FT, I'd put mesh in front of that rad pronto if I were you... henry21p
But only use mesh with holes the right size for the average stone to be prevented from coming through the rad 😬 I'm sure that there's a complex calcualtion regarding the % decrease in cooling and the likelihood of a catastrophic failure versus the chances of a stone of particular size going through the rad 😬
FTH
The fan blowing the "wrong way" deflects stones too
stevefoster
Here's coincidence; Nigel arrived at my place lat night, stopping over on the way to visit Freestyle today. He's rebuilt his car over the winter - put everything back as was... He had some running hot issues on the way down. Both slow and fast running... We jacked the front up to bleed the rad, waited for the fan to kick in to ensure all nice and warm and hey presto, standing infront of the rad I was blasted by a wave of hot air. Yep fan def running backwards not drawing cool air in. Fixed by reversing the DC feed. He also had his JW Zetec water rail running too close to the manifold (that has been a problem before) so he moved it out a little bit. Guess it will be all right from now on.
