caterham brake pipe sizes and fittings

Recommended Posts

After getting annoyed at having to go to a garage to get brake pipes made up i have bit the bullet and ordered a decent flaring kit

Now before i get the pipes and fittings are the fittings on a 7 UNF or metric and is the brake pipe 3/16"

The definitive answer from Caterham Technical.

"The thread on the calliper end of the front flexible brake hose should be 3/8" UNF Female Union to fit onto the male adapter fitted directly into the AP calliper. The car end of hose should have a 3/8" UNF Female union with locknut to clamp it to the body side.

The rear flexible brake hose should also have 3/8" UNF fittings Female to Female.

The only metric fittings used on the car are to the standard rear brake callipers and the connections to the mater cylinder. All the rest of the brake system fittings should be 3/8" UNF"

Somehow i knew that was going to be the answer

Bloody caterhams 😬
