I can't bear to see or hear mechanical devices being abused and that poor little car was protesting pitifully until it received my tender ministrations whereupon it was purring like a pussycat! My recollection of that incident was the other way round - you wanted one sponge for 50p but they wouldn't split them so you persuaded me to take the other one. As any mate would of course, I went along with it despite already being rich in car wash sponges.
