My coolant runs along one of thedse which i just cut to length. I want to put a flare about 10mm from the end but I'm a cheapskate and don't want to buy a tool. Anyone advise cheapest tool source for this duty?

I've had similar problems when I converted to a Duratec as I had to make up water rails bespoke to the car.

I could not find a way of forming the bead so I used a coarse emery paper to clean the pipe and then decent clips to clamp the hose. Done 6 ends of these 50mm pipes like this and none have blown off (yet!) in the 2 years the car has had this engine.

I suppose there is a risk but the system pressure is run at about 15 psi so should be OK.

'Swaging' is the required operation to which you refer. I have 3 swagers in my factory, all of which are too big for your particular problem so you need to find a specialist fabrication shop that has the right size swaging rolls.

To start with I would suggest looking in the Yellow Pages for 'Precision Sheet Metalworkers' and you may be lucky enough to find one locally. Next to try would be a radiator manufacturing company such as Radtec Ltd. *thumbup*
