cooling fan manual overide switch HELP

I don't know the pin layout for the switch, but assuming that you can find a couple of suitable pins, what I have done is to connect one side of the switch to earth, the other side runs to the activation side of a new relay located on a chassis rail beside the fan.

the relay has a live feed from the temperature sensor (may be different if ECU controlled) which is split between the activating circuit and the switched circuit. THe output of the switched circuit is then driving the fan.

Make sure that all cables can carry at least 10A - the brief higher loading when the fan starts is probably OK as it is only above 10A for a couple of seconds. As this circuit is then fused through the normal circuits, it is well protected and the current going through the bulkhead to the switch is < 10mA.

Low tech luddite - xflow and proud!
