I was in the layby prodding about in the engine bay* and turned down your offer of help...

 

Typical, I drive the Seven to work 5 days a week in all weathers for 3 months and the one time I see another one is when I'm incapacitated by the side of the road...

 

* Confession time... my problem was entirely self-inflicted *redface* . Topped up the oil level, got distracted and drove off with the filler cap still resting on the cam cover... Of course it slipped down and was expertly caught by the four fingers of the exhaust manifold where it got rather warm... 3 miles down the road and there was a funny smell, followed by smoke billowing from the bonnet louvres... 😳 😔
