Violet Elizabeth
Very quick question ! Whine has appeared since swapping wheels / tyres. More of a resonant hum than a whine. Suspect the tyres ?
Casbar
Mine do. I swapped to 21's in Jan, and immediately started to hear a hum. Thought it was my wheel bearings, but just had one of them done, and the hum is still there. Its tyre noise if it goes away when speed increases, bearings if the noise gets louder as speed increases. BlueShark
My gear box whines so much I can't hear the wife, let alone the A021 Rs...
Big Brother
Thank god for that!!! I drove to Broadstairs and back yesterday, it was the tyres first "proper" outing. On the motorway at around 50 I could hear a slight whine/hum that sounded as if it was coming from the wheels. It was hard to tell as I was wearing a FF helmet. I have never heard this before putting the new tyres on. When I took the helmet off the noise seemed to disappear (was driving slowly as it was pissistantly raining) Steve 79' Crossflow Supersprint "The original X-Power" www.Se7en-Up.co.uk id=green>
Violet Elizabeth
Phew ! Had me worried for a bit ! Although did think it was a bit of a coincidence for something to start playing up the minute I changed the tyres. Thanks !
rgrigsby
Yup definetly the tyres.. 032r's do it as well but not as much.. Rob G www.SpeedySeven.com
V7 SLR
I went from ACB10s to 21Rs and thought them very quiet... but you have to take that into context. ACB10s have a tread pattern perpendicular to the direction of travel. They whine like a whiney-thing...
deeps
I`ve recently changed to AO21`s with no whine evident, what pressures are you running them at in road use? I`m using 18psi all round Deeps smile.gif Deep down you know it makes sense.idea.gif

CHRIS CLARK
Steve Motts. Are you sure it wasn't the sound of several gallons a minute of rain water being sent flying by the 21's groove pattern you heard ? confused.gif

Big Brother
Chris, The heavier it rained, the more standing water I drove through, the more I loved my clamshells!!!
