Leadership Team RogNeedham Posted April 29, 2008 Leadership Team Share Posted April 29, 2008 twice yesterday at Cadwell Park, the drivers door blew off the 'hinges' - leaving me trying to hold the door on with just the rear and lower 'poppers' to prevent complete disaster apologies to anyone unfortunate enough to be behind when this happened. The main rods were fully into the hinges on the windscreen before setting off *confused* - would the fact that the car has clams create some weird vortex at track speeds 🤔 never had this happen on the road - any suggestion for a permanent cure....apart from getting an aeroscreen and half doors 😬
mav
As discussed this happened to us on the USA tour, except the door went for a bit of a flyer. Use the studding and nylocs on at least one of the hinges to keep the door in place properly

captain chaos
My mate lost his CSR door on the E40 on the way back from the ring. It must have got up to about 30ft in the air and then came to rest on a grass verge next to the hard shoulder. Amazingly it was unmarked. Very lucky for him and the cars behind. susser
I wonder how long it will be before some smart 🙆🏻 cottons on the the wordsclams create some weird vortex.

Fishy Dave
I lost one of mine thanks to a passenger It flew off at 60mph and hit the front of a 206GTi, £450 of damage 😳
acw
One possible solution is to fit the SVA compliant door hinges that have an extended pin with nut on it, but of course this then prevents removng the doors at other times. SLR69
On my SLR I have the doors with the SVA compliant extended hinges and the nuts on them and I simply do the nuts up finger tight which stops the doors coming off but they can be removed in a matter seconds simply by undoing the nuts with your fingers, so the best of both worlds.
