Peter Mears
I would like some idea of the earliest year of car that would meet the following spec. 1; Dedion suspension, rear 2; Non live axle front end as mine, on a 1988. Want to go with wide track if poss. 3; Not cat for MOT (think that means visible smoke only) this is the important one. Planning another Seven for the wife and trying to get the spec together. I think a later x flow would meet the requirements but the CAT issue is important as an engine change is on the cards. Or it could even be K 😳
Support Team Shaun_E Posted April 24, 2008 Support Team Share Posted April 24, 2008 Any pre August 1998 kit built car is exempt from emissions testing. For factory built car's it will depend on the engine as to whether a CAT is required. Any engine or car that is pre August 1992 will not need a CAT test but will need to pass a basic emissions test (CO here. Peter Mears
Many thanks, so really a pre 1992 Aug car is what I am looking for, that makes the suspension issues easier. A late x flow dedion sounds perfect for a zetec conversion, or go with a pre 92 K.
David Lynch
Just stay Pre 1998 Kit Built K Series Don't forget subtle changes to suspension mounting points for 96 onwards.
