Brucey
Following the successful MOT on my 1800Kss installation yesterday, I'm looking for the following: 1. 280mm diam steering wheel to fit std (non quick release) column. Prefeably suede with flat bottom. I feel a bit like Goldilocks! 300mm diam is a bit too big and 260 mm diam is a bit too small. Failing that, where is a good place to get a new one at a sensible price? What boss do I need (Ford escort, mini etc) 2. Before I order from CC, I am looking for a set of Mintex 1144 front pads to fit std brakes (1993 1400Kss). A good second hand set would do as I would like to see what they are like before shelling out £40 on new ones. Again, any recomendations on a good source would be appreciated. Bruce. mic
When you say standard boss do you mean the non Q/R 3 bolt fitting or a 6 bolt fitting.
apjenkins
I'm certain I have a set of M1144 fronts, they did one sprint only before changing the brakes. I'll look in the garage tonight. How would £20 plus a couple of quid for postage sound?? Let me know if interested. @ndrew
Brucey
Mic, I have a std (300 mm) Mountney wheel fitted with horn push & 6 mounting holes. I also have a 260 mm Racetec wheel (no horn push) and 3 fixing holes in the boss. I have put a seperate horn button on the dash so it is not an issue. Andrew, £20 + postage sounds great! Blat mail me your address and I'll pop a cheque in the post. Bruce.

jonboylaw
Brucey, If you want to shift the 260 mm wheel and boss, I am interested. Brucey
Jon, I've been offered a wheel and am just waiting to confirm the size. If it works out o.k. your welcome to the Racetec wheel. You will need a remote horn button if you don't already have one (about £5 and 1/2 hour to fit). I have also turned a nice tapered sleeve to fill the ugly gap between the back of the wheel boss and the dash. Bruce.
jonboylaw
Brucey, I await with bated breath... No problem on getting the horn thanks 😬 😬 Jon
Brucey
Hi I aquired and fitted some Mintex front pads (thanks @ndrew ). I put new discs on at the same time and frightened myself as I didn't realise how bad they were until they bedded in I've successfully scimmed the old discs ready to fit to the rear with new pads once the fronts are operating at full efficiency 😳 (they get better with every mile). I'm still looking for a non quick release steering wheel 280mm diam. I can't seem to find one this size with a flat bottom (even new) so am willing to give a round one a go! Anyone got one laying around before I phone Racetech? Bruce.
Brucey
Come on, someone must have a 280 mm diameter wheel sitting in their garage I'll be able to pass my 260 mm wheel onto Jon, so you will be helping 2 people out Bruce.
jonboylaw
Bruce, I have sourced a Momo 260mm, is your Racetech Suede? Approx cost ? Jon ----------------------------------- Ital or Ford... the choice is yours.... Hmmm, I'll have the ford please Bob.
Brucey
Jon, My Racetech is suede but it is going a bit shiney in places 😳 I was thinking of passing it on for £45 with boss and the plastic spacer I made to cover the bare bit of column. I was hanging on in case I needed the boss for a new Racetech wheel. I thought there would be loads of 280 diam wheels around where people have upgraded(?) later standard steering wheels to quick release. Ideally, I'm still after a flat bottom 280 mm diam suede wheel. John Howe
Pretty sure I have a non-quick release mono and am intersted in a standard wheel with horn in the centre. Will try an have a rummage in the spares department tomorrow and report back...
