randybugger
after about half hour of driving my ignition light comes on at tickover, it goes out with a slight touch of the throttle but comes on again next time i stop If I take the bonnet off the light goes out (engine bay cools?) Battery reads about 14v and about 13.2 with all lights on etc car stars well so battery seems to be charging ok I have just fitted a Powerspeed exhaust (x-flow engine) which is fab but would this make the primaries hotter (back pressure?) could it be cooked wiring (how would I check) any advice would be good Tony

Terry Field
Tickover too slow? Long ago when men were men etc., it used to be the practice to set tickover so that the red light just glowed then went out when the throttle was tickled! Terry 1700XF - Team Lotus with flares. randybugger
Had a look at fan belt last night , had about an inch of up down movement but there is no screeching when the light comes on, will try increasing tick over slightly Tony
Stationary M25 Traveller
An inch is way too sloppy 😳. Alternator belts need to be tight (but not so tight as to knacker the bearings). 7 related photos Edited by - Stationary M25 Traveller on 6 Mar 2008 10:58:
