smoother ride

Recommended Posts

I met another owner the other day who told me as a road only user that I would regret buying smaller wheels as the handeling may improve but the ride would be much more harsh, any opinions please as I would have thought that the lower the profile the harder the ride.

1700SS 1990 DD 15" prisoner rims.

Your friend is wrong, you are right.

Low profile tyres will give a far worse ride quality than high(er). A 205-60-13 will be better, ride quality wise, than a 195/205-50-15. Easier on the pocket too..........

Just to endorse Noger's comment. I, too, have changed from 15" Prisoners and Michelin Pilots 195/50/15 to Superlite 13" and Yoko 21Rs 185/70/13. The wheel & tyre circumferences are pretty much the same, but the handling and ride quality was vastly improved. Oh, and 21Rs are only £40 inc VAT each from George Polley.
