captain chaos
I've taken the engine out this morning to look into some awful noises coming from my release bearing/clutch set up. In the bottom corner of my belhousing is a spigot which normally has a plastic sleeve over it to stop the clutch arm sliding off. This plastic sleeve has disintegrated (bits left in bottom of housing) which has allowed the arm to slide forward/off the spigot! Anyone come across this before? I wonder if this tube was anything special? I wonder if I can get another piece from Caterham? (I bet I can't!) or do I just heat up some PVC tube I have here and slide another bit on? The original sleeve seemed to be harder than ordinary tube. Any comments would be appreciated. stevefoster
I have the boggo plastic tube on mine.... I think it may be heat shrink tube.
EFA
Gary, Thx for the pix. I had this fail once on my car and replaced it with std PVC hose. All it does is stop the fork rattling when the clutch is not depressed. Stuff a new bit on! captain chaos
Steve/Arnie, cheers Rob Morris has given me a piece of tube which seems harder than my std tube so I'll give it a whirl. Once again my engine has had to come out this year (third time!) and for something so minormad.gif. Looking at all the cars at Curboro' yesterday made me feel quite depressedsad.gif Let's hope this is it until the winter...
