Geoff C
I am in the process of fitting a new fuel tank to my 98 SLR, the old tank had a pipe coming from the filler neck to a small angled pipe on the top of the tank near the fuel sender. However on the new tank there is no pipe attachment on the top of the tank ❗ See here Have I bought the wrong tank or do I need to just blank this pipe off/re-route it? Thanks in advance Geoff
Geoff C
Anyone have any ideas? I have done a search and it appears its just a breather or overflow! So I am assuming I can just remove the pipe and block up the hole?
Mick Day
I don't think you'll have a problem as I modified my injection tank to remove this breather. I only have a breather in the neck of the filler & it's no problem.
Peter T
It was an additional fill breather, early injection fillers (metro) did not have this but was changed to allow smaller nozzles on the fuel pumps on introduction of unleaded fuel. So the newer version of Rover injection fillers incorperated this extra vent/ filler pipe so caterham had to modify the tanks to suit. Makes no difference using old style with new. CageyH
Just blank it off. I had to do the same. Only dead fish go with the flow....!
Geoff C
Many thanks guys, I will just block the pipe as it leaves the filler neck. Geoff
