Foxy Smith
What type of fuel pump are you running? When I bought my car it had just had fitted a high capacity/pressure pump (Facet red top I think) It was too much for the floats and at idle petrol pissed out everywhere. Problem solved by changing to low pressure solid state pump which works very well so far.
John Reay
I'd check the fuel pressure is not over-whelming the needle valves, you only need 3psi fuel pressure. Regulate the pressure with a fuel pressure regulator (funny that) John
santa
i've got a normal/ford fuel pump on engine. standard stuff but running pressure about 0.5psi. its a bit baffling
stevefoster
Sounds like float needle valves. Either pressure as mentioned or they are worn. You get new ones in the ~£12 service packs from Weber.
Brian
It is also worth checking that you havn't got a leaky float. Remove the floats and check for the height of the fuel in the float chamber. Regards Brian
Jam Mad
if you're not going to solve it yourself, don't go to 'southern carbs' in wimbledon.
Lee
I've had a similar problem... there are a couple of nuts somewhere difficult to reach that came loose and fuel poured out even when the pump is on but engine isn't running. Just can't remember exactly where the nuts are! Try tightening all nuts, there are a couple underneath somewhere that might do the trick
santa
i'm still crying over spilt fuel, james has still got my car, sniff sniff............. saucer of milk table nine, meow
Maccers
and wipe the spilt fuel from the carbs/bonnet/wing etc. A blow back through the carbs will set it all alight, as happened to me.... RM.
