Technology area

Red SLR

Recommended Posts

Seems to be more and more threads on phones, software, pc's, games consoles, tv's, dvds, ipods.. dare I say it... coffee machines.. etc etc.. wonder if we could have a dedicated technology area, maybe with people in the know in certain areas doing reviews or articles once a month or something?

Just a thought... move on... nothing more to see...

To start with it could be a new area on the forum for people to post their questions about all their technology.

I would like to think that I know quite a bit about technology but these days I am increasingly asking questions on here and in general I get some very good answers. I see this quite a bit on Chit Chat so I thought it might be good to have an area called Geek Talk or whatever.

People could then post reviews and all sorts.

It was just an idea - have a think about it.

Here are the threads (12) from the last 48 hours that I would think would go in the new forum, so I do think there would be traffic in there.

Computer question (RAM)

How do I compress video clip file?

Photo hosting web site

What's the largest LCD TV screen you can get?

PC not powering up - help

Which camcorder for the olds???

O/T How do I get DVDs onto an iPhone?

O/T - Pallet lift battery

O/T - Apple Mac help

Compact Digi camera

OT: PC spec again (sorry)  Pages: 1 2

Unlock for iPhone

Any more thoughts on this, what do the masses think?

Why not call it CATERHAM only? very interesting members views/questions on everything from politics to babies and pets and widescreen TV but my interest on this site is my Caterham 7.

But a lot of us come on this site because it is a nice community (constant bickering aside 😬) and I find it a nice mix to talk about various topics. Half the time this is where I learn about some interesting news that I may have not have otherwise found.

I'm sure a lot of people value and trust what other BC members say/recommend/advise etc so it is a good source of information...which leads nicely onto Red SLR's suggestion.

Good though the suggestion is, I think I like the way ChitChat is, offering a nice mix of subjects to browse through. I wonder if by creating a separate technologies section would reduce this?

If we were a bigger on line community in terms of numbers then yes it would be a great idea to break things down a bit. Take rllmuk forum for example, it's mainly a gaming forum but there are loads of other non gaming sub related forums to cater and entertain for their masses.

i'm certainly not shooting the idea down in flames but personally I just don't think the number of technology related topics warrant it at the moment.

Perhaps if we opened the forum up to non members again...aww I had to go and say it didn't I *rolleyes* 😬

Cheers

Dave
