Scavenge pump pulley bolt removal

I am trying to remove a K series gold scavenge pump, but the pulley retaining bolt simply turns the pump rotor when the pulley is prevented from rotating I did assemble, probably in error in retrospect but I was worried about it coming loose, with some thread lock

 

How do I stop the pump from rotating?

I don't think the thread lock wasn't a good idea Malcolm

 

From memory I don't think you can split the pump without taking the pulley off first so your best bet will be to jamb the pump by sticking a bit of wood in the appropriate orifice. Once undone take the pump apart and run a tap into the shaft to remove all signs of the thread lock, then make sure there are no bits of wood inside ❗

You can take the other end off the pump once it is out of the cradle, but getting it out of the cradle may not be easy with the pulley on. Otherwise the only way is to jam the pump as described.

Thanks for the advice. I will use a piece of hard wood to jamb the pump. I guess reassembly of pump afterwards is easy?

Yes Malcolm re-assembly is very simple, very few parts to it and all will become clear when you strip it.
