Martin S.
I had a small hole in one of my Webers' throttle plates which I've repaired with a blowlamp and plumbers solder. It lasts on brass plumbing fittings but is this an acceptable long lasting repair in this application? BRG Dedion 2Ltr Zetec - Warrington
Noel Mclaughlin
According to the Weber Guru the late John Passini the answer is yes. FWIW I did exactly the same thing years ago to the throttle plates in a Holley carb on a Holden V8 that I had that needed some help with progression off idle after installation of a fairly lumpy camshaft , and I had to drill experimentally holes in the plates to supply some air at idle with less opening on the plates and therefore alonger progression on the idle slots or ports. Hope this helps. Just a question ,did you end up doing it yourself coz the plumber never showed up like they do in Australia?
Martin S.
Thanks Noel, the reason a hole was there in the first place was that some clever person (not me honest!) had drilled out one of the progression holes and in the process went straight through the plate as well! No wonder I couldn't balance the things! With the prices plumbers charge didn't even consider calling one.
