VX Corsa engine management fault code

My son's VX Corsa 1.0 (horrid nasty 3 cylinder engine) has an ECU fault code p0170 fuel trim malfunction. The man at the garage tells me this may be caused by faulty fuel injector or possibly or possibly a leaking inlet valve ( thus affecting the shape/quality of fuel spray). Car seems to run perfectly.

 

Anybody out there familiar with this engine and fault code? Is the man at the garage speaking sense or bullsh@t?
