Kawasaki Lime Green - What's lighter and brighter ?

DaveMorris

Recommended Posts

I'm having a respray and had sort of settled on Kawasaki Lime Green (their code 617 IIRC), but having had a panel sprayed up I'm not 100% sure. Appears to be a bit too dark

Anyone out there know the code of something lighter and brighter ?

Did Ford use a bright green on their Mexico's in the 70's (or is my memory deceiving me).

Need input reasonably quickly as paint needs to be ordered.

TIA, Dave.

Dave,

I expect much like BRG, there may be a few variants of Kawasaki Lime Green!! May be an idea to hot foot it round to the paint shop your sprayer uses and have a look through the colour charts or books they will have. Bike colours are much more vibrant but I think the lotus Krypton green used on the latest Elises is great *cool*

Nick

PS What happens if the colour clashes with the springs - maybe should have gone for black! 😬

The BEC has gone - now onto an R400!!

Hi Dave

Yes, Ford did use a bright lime green, I know 'cos I had one ! Sorry I can't remember its proper name or code, but it did look good with the black coachlines and badge scripts. There is a motorcycle accident repair specialist in Romford Essex called Sudden Impact, I should think they could tell you the correct code for the Kwacker green.

Dave, my car is (or so I thought) Kawa Lime Green. Except that when I bought a can of touch up paint from Halfrauds, the touch up was noticeably darker than my paint.

Turns out it is Lime Green sprayed over a yellow base to lighten it slightly.

Still not as bright as a dayglo SLR near me but I reckon mine won't fade as fast as that one.

I think the 1970's Green on the Mk1 Mexico's was called Modena Green.

There is a new Fiesta in the showroom of my local Ford dealer in a really bright green, I believe its called Celebration Green.

My 7 is in Roulete Green which I think is a Triumph colour, but that's metallic.

I looked into this a while ago.

There are 3 shades of "Kawasaki" green but they differ very little

kaw6000

kaw6001

kaw6002

Vauxhall 3gb & VW l47q are very similar too but are colors dated from around 1980 so are not widely available

I've definitely got the Kawasaki Lime green code - but even on yellow base-coat it looks a bit darker than I expected.

Nice piccies of a Mexico here and I must admit, although the green isn't "in yer face", I think I could get atached to it.

I think that I've seen the Celebration Green in an advert for a Fiesta - though given the choice of a Fiesta colour or a classic Escort colour (a proper x-flow car) then there'll not be much of a choice to make 😬

Not Green I know but my newly delivered seven is Lambo Burnt Orange Metallic and certainly looks good and bright in the sun *cool* and a whole shade darker when not. Not too bad with the dirt either. Dirt, what dirt? *nono*

Paint codes on Google.

Phillip,

I've got (well SWMBO has got) an Orange Caterham already - a Harley Orange.

This one's definitely going to be green ..

..

.

.

.. .. ..or possibly blue

No, definitely green. It's just a question of brightness.

My last Caterham was sprayed Lotus Krypton Green, I liked it though the concensus wasn't universal. Did get the seal of approval from SWMBO though.

Still some pics on my sig below as i've never got round to changing it.

Decisions decisions, it's a surprisingly difficult choice, I went to a paintshop and looked through the swatches but there are soooo many it is very confusing.

Good luck

Dave,

Have you looked at Triumph Roulette Green? Lighter than the Kawasaki one and semi pearlescent. here. Click the colours button and then the green colour. Doesn't really do it justice though I am afraid. I can e-mail you a pick of a 7 in Roulette green if you like.

Regards,

Matt.

I was always mindful of how I would feel if, having painted my 7 this wonderful colour, a cr*p tin top pulled up next to me exactly the same colour *eek*

It never works out though, after choosing a Lotus colour the buses on the Isle Of Wight are painted a very similar colour as are apparently some refuse contractors overalls in deepest Suffolk 🙆🏻

Bit of a roller coaster at the moment - from

*eek* to *smile* to *biggrin* to *thumbup* to 😬

then a bit of *confused* then then *cry* and 😔

and a bit of *evil* thrown in for good measure.

Then move to philosophical mode *rolleyes* and another 🤔 followed by *idea*, *thumbup* and another 😬.

Anyway, might have deicided on a colour that will need *cool* so now feeling *smokin* , possibly even 🥰

Am planning on getting a couple of samples made up tomorrow so could well go through it all again tomorrow night. *tongue* , or 🙆🏻 or even *mad*

Thanks to all for their comments, photos and opinions.

As I said in an e-mail reply to one of you (and I paraphrase) - "I currently have what looks like a Sows Ear. I'm not trying to turn it into a Silk Purse, but would like to end up with a good looking Sows Ear"
