rgrigsby
Hmm not sure what to do, I have my set of tyres on rims from last year which will be fine to use but it would be nice to upgrade. Guess I should send you a check Simon for a set of the new size tyres in soft to at least get my name in the queue. Cheers Rob G www.SpeedySeven.com
Mark Durrant
Rob I will be emailing all likely candidates for the 235 tyres later today to ascertain requirements so hold on to your cheque for now. I will then be talking with Kumho UK to see how we can expedite the arrival of the tyres we need into the UK. Mark D Comp Sec

GTD
My current tyres are 205 and 185 Yoko 48's on the bog standard Caterham wheels - I had fancied replacing them with Kumhos, but as these seem to come in a 185 and 215 and the wheel budget is not there to get some wider rears, would the advice be to stick with Yokos? I refuse to be pigeon-holed - well, not on the first date anyway
Simon.Rogers1
No they come in 175 and 215 and will "probably" fit your existing rims given the size of the yoko's you are running. 175 and 215's are in stock in all compounds and will be more effective than the Yoko's. GTD
Simon - fingers crossed then - has anyone squeezed a 215 wide tyre onto a 6 x 13" wheels? I refuse to be pigeon-holed - well, not on the first date anyway
Don
GTD - we have 215's on our caterham 8 spoke rims ... are there different standards other than 'bog' !?
Don
Must be 6 x 13 cos the cr500's were on them originally, so it's a GTD
GTD
WC - cheers - and have you get fat ones all round? I refuse to be pigeon-holed - well, not on the first date anyway
GTD
Though I see Neil and others are using 175/215 I refuse to be pigeon-holed - well, not on the first date anyway
Don
oh hang on ... have I got it wrong? the 6 x 13 are the one's on the front with the 175's aren't they!? Must admit Rol normally just asks Simon what to order
neil.cavanagh
Yep.. thin and skinny up front, and wide and fat out back (no comments about 'how I like my women' thank you Dannyboy...). GTD, not sure I'd fancy running the 215 tyres on 6" rim as they are a lot wider than the fronts. Were you 205 Yokos on 6" rims?
Mark Durrant
GTD Kumho recommend a 7"-8" rim for the 215 tyres. How much power is you car currently producing as you could get away with 175's all round. Mark D Comp Sec
GTD
Mark - about 148 bhp I think. Neil - yep, Polley said I'd be OK (and I have been) with the 205 Yokos on 6" wheels. As we're spending this year's upgrade fund on the Alfa it's not a time to be buying new wheels for the 7, I'm afraid! Mark Durrant
Geoff I think you could get away with 175's all round with that level of power and you will see a good improvement over the 48's if you use the soft compound however, these are very soft so will wear out quickly if used on the road and track. If you looking for this sprint/road/track use then I would suggest the medium compound is required. Mark D Comp Sec
Don
Is there any news on the 235 delivery eta?? We now have the rims but still don't know if they're going to fit under the arches
Simon.Rogers1
Lynda 235 on 8.5" rims fit the rears with no difficulty. I doubt the 215 on 7.5" rims will fit under the front wings. Mark, Mel and I are working hard to resolve the delivery issue. However it would seem not even Kumho Motorsport UK have much control over what is actually shipped from Korea. There are containers on the way but they are not sure what is in them
Don
Blinkin' eck I've got it wrong again haven't I!? I need the 215's then - are they available and if so, shall I send 2 cheques for separate deliveries ... ??
