LawrenceR
Hello All, I think it is about time I join in the fun. I don't know if anyone can help? I would love to buy a nice, cared-for Superlight with all the usual trimmings; I am willing to travel for the right car and have a budget of £15K. Ideally I would like a post 2000 car with less than 20,000 miles, but really condition is more important than age or miles. I think my budget is fair, but I am sure people will tell me if I am a long way out. I am not in a hurry although I would like to get the right car for the spring. Thanks in advance Thumbs Edited by - Thumbs on 25 Oct 2007 20:04:

LawrenceR
Thanks for the link. It looks like a good car but, I am not in a hurry so I am holding out for a Superlight. I know that car has many of the goodies but it is not quite right for me Thumbs
LawrenceR
Please could someone offer me some advice? Having not owned a caterham before I feel a bit green and this is a position I don't really like, especially when it comes to spending money. This car seems to fit my bill but I am a bit concerned about the work that has been done to the engine and the fact that the last sale fell through http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/179003.htm I have asked the following questions "How many owners has it had? How long have you owned the car? What level of service history does it have? Please could i have the Number plate for HPI check? I assume the car has been tracked, so I ask how often? Are there any mechanical problems with the car? Was it factory or home build? Why did the last sale fall through? and finally who carried out the engine work?" What else should I ask or should I wait for a non-modified car? Thanks in advance, any advice would be gratefully received. I understand that the owner maybe a regular on here so I hope posting this is not out of order. mav
Thumbs - best bet is to get the answers to your initial questions, and if you are still interested, then ask for an experienced local owner to go with you to view the car.
Steve Cragg
I guess the other obvious initial question to ask is whether it has suffered any accident damage. These cars really need viewing on an individual basis and it would be wise to take up the suggestion of a visit with an experienced club member. There are many cars that were home built, used for track days with no official service history that have been built and cared for immaculately so don't discount them. Good luck withy your search. ECU has been upgraded and throttle bodies fitted Ditto the advice on taking someone experienced with you - I wish I had done so when buying my 1st 7 !
