JPE Engine in a standard 40th Anniversary VX Edition

I am thinking of buying a new JPE engine and dropping it into a 1997 VX 40th Anniversary model with 6 speed box, competition exhaust and big brakes. Any problems in doing this? What other modifications will I have to make to take the engine?(apart from uprated suspension). I am intending to use the car mainly on the track.

All replies and advice greatfully received.

Is it an injection Vx at the moment? If not, you'll need a different tank and fuel pump. I assume the JPE engine comes with an ECU and is dry sumped - does the Vx car have a dry sump tank?

The engine in the car is on carbs and the JPE unt is fuel injected?

You need a new tank, fuel pump and a fair bit of injection hose. How much of the dry sump gear have you got? If your car isn't dry sumped, you'll need a tank, dry sump scavenge pump (? on the JPE unit?) and the appropriate hoses. If you're going for the bellhousing type then you'll need a hydraulic clutch kit as well.

I'm not clear what you have already and what's included with the JPE engine.

I would get the proper inlet manifold rather than the round the corner one that Caterham fit and see if you can get close to the genuine Swindon 250 horses rather than the fudged Caterham ~220ish (according to Arnie).

You will need a new bonnet though, with a different cutout to thte normal one.
