Alex Wong1697456877
So far so good, except it backfires big time on overrun. Any ideas? Timing looks ok and the fuel side hasn't been altered. I recalibrated the throttle pot and balanced the throttle bodies but if anything, it was worse after balancing the TBs. Allen Payne
Alex, Have you checked for any air leaks in the exhuast manifold, or collector? Regards Allen
Andrew Dent
Alex, in the best traditions, I expect to see flames, and lots of them. If this happens, I will be off to make my engine louder. how about another competition in the tunnels. Andrew Dent
Alex Wong1697456877
After running the car flat out, it became evident that it was down on power. I got the Valve opening values for TDC from QED and with Roger's expertise (and patience) we re-checked the timing to find that the inlet side was one tooth out despite the markers not lining up when it was put to the correct position. In other words, with all the markers lined up, it wasn't correct. Starting the engine was a nerve wrecking experience and I still had my doubts till Curborough where I knocked 1.84s off my time in May. The engine feels fine and VDU7X's recovery is complete!! Thank you to all those who have sympathised and advised. It's been a strangely enjoyable experience! I wouldn't like to make a habit of it though.
